About Team Cantore
Tamra Cantore received an unwelcome gift for her 40th birthday. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
Tamra kept up the pace of her busy life for a couple years: she remained a busy wife, mother, telecommunications executive and sports fanatic, thanks to medications. But after a few years, the degenerative nature of this chronic disease became an increasing part of her daily life. In typical fashion, Tamra took on this life-changing reality as a challenge, not a roadblock.
In 2000, Tamra founded Team Cantore. Her mission: increase awareness of the changing faces of Parkinson's, as well as the need for increased funding for research. Research is the only way we will slow the progression of this disease and, ultimately, find a cure. Team Cantore participated in the Parkinson's Unity Walk that year and has fielded a team ever since. funds from this event have gone toward research for members of the Parkinson's Unity Walk Partnership. a couple years later, Tamra was introduced to country music son-writer, Jeffrey Steele. When Jeffrey offered to perform at a charity concert for Tamra in support of her fundraising efforts for Parkinson's research, she founded Countrified Rock for Research. The first evert was hosted inn 2003. Over the years this concert, with dinner, a silent and live auction as well as a raffle, has become our cornerstone event that has increased the team's fundraising exponentially. This year's event will be our 14th year featuring headliner Jeffrey Steele. Jeffrey has over 85 top 10 hits, over 63 million airplays and over 50 writers awards to his credit. He has had huge impact on our success.
Tamra is in year 19 living with Parkinson's. Researchers are getting closer to a cure but they need to get the ball in the end zone. Since its inception, Team Cantore has raised over three quarters of a million dollars. Tamra continues to pursue opportunities to expand fundraising to help researchers find a cure in her lifetime.
